Better Newsletter: Spring edition!

Spring has officially sprung at Better Farm: The bulbs are popping, birds are chirping, and the first mosquitoes have already arrived.

As the ice recedes and days lengthen, the region is gearing up for the rapidly approaching solar eclipse on April 8. The North Country, which is in the path of totality(!), expects an influx of more than 174,000 people to view the historic event. Better Radio Welcomes Back 'Tripi' for Live Pop-Up Concert May 18

Soulful rock singer, storyteller and guitarist Tony Tripi returns to Better Farm backed by his full band for a Better Radio Live Broadcast Series performance at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18 on the outdoor stage of the Art Barn.

Tripi, based out of Buffalo, was the first act in betterArts' Live Broadcast Series last August, playing with Andrew Daniels. This show will be Tripi's second-to-last stop on his spring tour. Those living locally who can't attend can listen in live on Better Radio, 88.5 FM.

Friday morning, May 19, Tripi will be offering a free “Live Music and Meditation” for anyone who would like to participate. Bring your yoga mats or blankets, pillows, water and your friends. Reconnect with yourself as the musicians help you work your way through the chakras, bringing healing and a sense of peace. Email info@betterfarm.org to sign up!

Suggested betterArts donation of $5 at the door to support future live broadcast series events. BYOB. Lights snacks and refreshments will be served. In the case of inclement weather, the show will be held inside the Art Barn.

betterArts Presents: Live Radio Broadcast 'Christmas With The Paynter Singers' Dec. 15

betterArts' Live Radio Broadcast Series continues at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, with "The Paynter Singers Christmas Extravaganza," hosted by Better Radio show host Victor.

The singing group, which regularly performs locally  out of the Paynter Senior Center in Clayton, will perform Christmas carols in Better Farm's library for anyone who would like to come listen, enjoy homemade treats, hot cocoa, tea, and other refreshments.

The performance will also be recorded for podcast, and transmitted live over the Better Radio airwaves. Local residents unable to attend may tune in at 88.5 FM.

The performance is part of a monthly, live broadcast series put on by betterArts and shared in real time on Better Radio as a way to enrich the area's local music scene in an intimate setting throughout the year. The event is free and open to the public.

betterArts Presents: Vino and Van Gogh

betterArts Presents: Vino and Van Gogh

betterArts presents an art and wine event at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at Better Farm in Redwood.

Attendees 21 and older will receive guided instruction to create a painting from start to finish while enjoying bottomless glasses of wine. Easels, paints, brushes, canvases, finger foods and wine will be provided by betterArts. Students are also welcome to bring any of their own art supplies.

betterArts To Offer Giftwrap-Making Station at Saturday's Kris Kringle Mart

betterArts will offer free giftwrap-making at this year's Kris Kringle Mart, put on by the Alexandria Bay Figure Skating Club and held at Alexandria Bay's fire hall from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.

The annual event, put on by the figure-skating club as a fundraiser, features vendors selling a large variety of handmade items that will make perfect holiday gifts.

betterArts will have lots of art supplies on-hand and members of the organization will be available to help visitors make customized gift wrap for everyone on their list. The group will also offer toy giveaways throughout the day.

Alexandria Bay's fire hall is located at 110 Walton St., Alexandria Bay.

betterArts to Host Group Mural at Mare's Wares Arts Fest

betterArts will host a group mural at the eighth annual Mare's Wares Arts Fest from 12-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, in Morristown.

Mare's Wares Arts Fest is dedicated to celebrating quality, creativity and artistry in all its forms. The annual event brings together the North Country's premier artisans, musicians, authors (and SO much more) every July 1st. It is easy to make a day of the celebration, so  bring your friends!

betterArts will have a canvas out for everyone to pain on; as well as information about upcoming events, workshops and more.
